Incorporate systems that already exist abroad

The alarming rise of the number of motorcycles in the capital attributes to a number of problems for the city overall. The first problem is, this has created the staggering rise in the number of accidents related to two-wheelers. Secondly, the alarming rate of traffic violations by motorcycle riders.

A report published in this daily says that the number of legal motorcycles in Dhaka has increased to over five lakh in 10 years. The growth rate is 268 percent. Of these, the number of legal motorcycles in Dhaka has increased by 3 lakh 35 thousand 844 in the last four years. This is quite astonishing and disconcerting at the same time. The skyrocketing of motorcycle numbers in the capital shows that there is a lack of control over the number of registration of motorbikes and the sale of two-wheelers in the country.

When the country will be able to adopt

suitable changes following the examples

set by foreign countries the problem of over

the roof numbers of motorcycles can be solved

There is the need for bringing in better quality public transports and also ensuring proper and quality maintenance of already existing public transports. It is the poor quality of existing public transports that has created a dismay of the people towards public transportation. When these obstacles can be removed there won’t be any logical reason for people to go for ride sharing or purchasing motorbikes. As an extra addition, the traffic jams on the capital’s roads can also be reduced.

Above all, it can be said that there is need for change in the road transport sector as well as public transportation. When the country will be able to adopt suitable changes following the examples set by foreign countries the problem of over the roof numbers of motorcycles can be solved.
