The Mongla Port Authority (MPA) has honored Interport Ship Agents Ltd. for handling the highest numbers of merchant vessels at Mongla Port including highest number of merchant LPG vessels) as Shipping Agent for the fiscal year 2020-21.
Tanjil Ahmed Ruhullah, Managing Director of Interport Ship Agents Ltd, received the crest of recognition on Wednesday at the Mongla Port Authority's premises in Port Building Yard.
Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa, Honorable Chairman of the Mongla Port Authority (MPA), handed over the award on the 71st foundation anniversary of Mongla Port Authority, simultaneously marking the 50th golden anniversary of our nation's independence.
Mohammad Mesbah Uddin Chowdhury, Secretary of the Shipping Ministry, presided over the ceremony as the Chief Guest.
Mongla Port is the second largest seaport of Bangladesh, and due to a tremendous boost in capacity and services in the recent years, a record 970 merchant vessels anchored at the port this year, which is the highest in 70 years. During the ceremony, Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa, pledged to reach the milestone of handling 3000 merchant vessels per year at Mongla Port by 2025.
