The parallel gas transmission line from Moheshkhali to Anwara is expected to start transmission from June next as the 76 percent construction works of the project have already been completed, reports BSS. Construction of the transmission line involving Taka 1,157 crore is expected to be completed by this time aimed at supplying the imported Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to the national grid from Moheshkhali terminal.
Engineer Ariful Hoque Fakir, Project Director of Moheshkhali–Anwara parallel pipe line project, told the state news agency that over 75 percent works of the second phase of the project have already been completed and the rest will end by June next. He hoped that after completion of the project, gas transmission will be smooth through both lines to avoid any complications in the national grid.
Gas Transmission company Ltd (GTCL) is implementing the project, he added. Under the project, CTMS (custody Transfer Memory System) installed at Anwara point. It is learnt that under the first track projects of the government, the first pipe line project from Moheshkhali to Anwara was installed at a cost o f Taka 1,040 crore in first phase.
Through this pipeline, on average a day about 500 million cft natural gas is being supplied from Moheshkhali terminal after reification of the imported liquefied gas. As a result, consumers of Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company are getting uninterrupted gas supply. Sources said after completion of first project , the second parallel line project from Moheshkhali to Anwara has been undertaken at a cost of Tk.1157 crores. After the completion of the line, all sorts complications in supplying the reification LNG gas to national grid will be solved, the sources added.
