Jagannath University (JnU) has been facing various labyrinth, innumerable crises and shortage since its inception. There’s a medical centre on the campus, but there is neither necessary medical equipment nor adequate doctors. Only one physician performs for about 25,000 students.

Medical centre contains dirty smell from bathroom. Although there are three rooms allocated for the medical centre, it is managed in one room. Authorities are not taking any effective steps for the development of medical centre. As a result, students, teachers, officials and staff expressed their anger.

They say if there is a sudden illness, there is no way to get immediate service here. In accordance with the sources, Jagannath University Medical Center has been operated by a doctor for a long time, this is why thousands of students are being deprived of medical treatment. In addition to the teachers, officers and employees are suffering about two thousand more. Instead of solving problems over time, many people now have the question, whether there will be a medical centre.

Every day 40 to 50 students appear hither for medical treatment. Sometimes teachers appear to measure blood pressure. Medical equipment include pressurized and a weight measuring device, two beds for patients and an ambulance. There are some types of drugs, including saline, napa, histacin, for first aid. The rest is restricted to prescriptions.

It is alleged that the drugs are in the medical center are not provided properly to the students. Only prescriptions are offered. As a result, the students were forced to transit to Mitford and National Hospital. In situ, it was mold that Jagannath University’s only medical center was being operated underneath a new academic building. It is on the opposite side of the engineering office. At the entrance to the medical center, a weight measuring machine appeared.

It is one of the medical equipment in the medical field. Apart from this, nothing was seen except the pressurized measuring device. The smell of the bathroom next door was not going to sit in the room. Although there are three rooms allotted for medical, it is now being managed in one room.

It is a shame for our university that no one here gets proper treatment and medicine properly as well there is nothing for immediate treatment. Said Musa Kallimullah, a third-year student of Law department. “Currently we are not thinking about medical. When the new campus will be taken up in Keraniganj, the university will have modern medical construction. At present, the doctor is one, within a few days, notice will be given for the appointment of a fresh physician. “University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mijanur Rahman said”
