‘Mozammel Haque, a hero police’

Md. Mozammel Haque, an Additional Deputy Inspector General (Addl DIG) of Bangladesh Police, has been serving distressed humanities since he joined in police around twenty years ago.

He was awarded various prestigious awards in recognition of his ongoing efforts for making the country and its people safe and secure. Besides his police jobs, he is very much popular for his pro-people and humanitarian activities across the country.

Md. Mozammel Haque is well known for his vital role in counter terrorism, anti-drug drives, social works and so on. He is very popular in the social media especially in Facebook.

Till November 3 this year, 162,301 people follow him. Many netizens termed him as a hero police officer. While talking to Bangladesh Post he said, “I joined the force to serve the nation with full dedication and integrity. I am promised to keep our motherland safe and secure.”

“We are aware of our duties. And we are promised to fulfil our duty with honesty and sincerity at any cost,” he added.

Md. Mozammel Haque, who is now working as the Commanding Officer (CO) of the anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), was born in January 15 in 1968 in Shahapur village under Chatmohor Upazila in Pabna district.

According to the sources in the Police Headquarters, Md. Mozammel Haque joined Bangladesh Police in January 25 in 1999. Before joining as Director of the RAB-4 on June 18 in 2019, he worked in various highly important units of Bangladesh Police.

On March 29 in 2001, he started his carrier in Bangladesh Police as the Assistant Superintendent (ASP) of Police in Panchagar Circle. On April 6 in 2003, he was promoted as the Senior ASP and was transferred to Rajshahi Sadar Circle.

After being promoted as Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl SP), he was transferred as Addl  SP of Natore District Police on August 1 in 2005.He also worked as Addl SP in Rajshahi, Cumilla and Dhaka district.

On November 20 in 2008, he went to Sudan under the United Nation Peace Mission to establish peace in the conflict zone. After being promoted as Superintendent Police (SP), he was transferred to Joypurhat district on September 24 in 2010.

After discharging his duties as the district police boss for more than one and half years, he started his mission as SP Bogra on March 27 in 2012. He worked there for more than three years.

Later, he was shifted to Naogaon as SP and worked there for more than two years.

On August 12 in 2017, he was transferred to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), the most prestigious unit of Bangladesh Police, as Deputy Commissioner (Crime).

He joined in the RAB Headquarters in the capital Dhaka on January 1 in 2018 after being promoted as the Addl DIG.

On March 10 in 2018, he joined as Commanding Officer (CO) of RAB-13.  After working therefor more than one year, he was transferred to RAB-4 as the CO.

While working as Addl SP of Natore from January 1, 2009 to June 8, 2010, he arrested several to brass criminal including anarchists, militants and leaders of banned left leaning extremist group.

He played vital roles in minimizing workers’ unrests in Savar and Ashulia industrial hubs from June 9,2010 to October 20,2010.

Being an SP of Joypurhat, he led the drives against illegal kidney smuggling gangs. As a recognition to his successful operation, he was awarded as the Presidential Police Medal (PPM) in 2012.

He resisted deadly petrol bombs attacks by the armed cadres of Jamaat-Shibir, after the death sentences of the top brass war criminals, while he was working as SP of Bogra police. He successfully resisted Islamist fanatic Hefajat-e-Islam’s march towards the capital Dhaka from North Bengal regions. As recognition, he achieved the ‘Digital Award’ as the best SP of the country.

Due to his heroic role against BNP-Jammat’s terrorism to foil parliamentarian elections in 2015, he was awarded the IGP’s badge in 2015.

When he was SP of Naogon district, he arrested senior leaders of banned militant organization Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and seized huge arms and ammunition and reduced boarder crimes. To recognize his such success, he was awarded Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM), the highest award of Bangladesh Police.

His success against the deadly militant activities reached to another height after his RAB-13 battalion scored first among all RAB battalions in combating militants. As a result, as the director of RAB-13, he again awarded the BPM in 2019.

His father late Abdul Jabbar Biswas was a very pious man while his mother was popular for her helping attitudes to the poor and distressed women in the remote area.

Md. Mozammel Haque and his wife Sultana Haque have ason and two daughters.
