Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number one as a well marked low over north Andaman sea and adjoining area has been intensified into a depression over the east-central Bay and adjoining area, reports BSS.

“The well marked low was centred about 1,015-km south of Chattogram port, 930-km south of Cox’s Bazar port, 1060-km south of Mongla port and 995-km south of Payra port at 6 am on Tuesday,” a Met office special bulletin said this morning.

“It is likely to intensify further and move in a north-westerly direction…maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre,” the bulletin also said. All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised not to venture into the deep sea.
