Marico Bangladesh Limited (Marico) was awarded the Best CSR Initiative for innovative efforts to promote financial inclusion through a project called SWAPNO.
This recognition was given at ‘A Better Tomorrow CSR Awards 2022’ ceremony held recently at Le Meridien Dhaka.
Planning Minister M A. Mannan was the Chief Guest at the occasion and presented the awards to the winners.
Strengthening Women's Ability for Productive New Opportunities (SWAPNO) is Marico's flagship corporate social responsibility project, which Marico have been undertaking since 2018 in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
SWAPNO is an initiative that aims to provide extreme poor and vulnerable rural women with sustainable livelihoods and food security. The main objective of this initiative is to achieve economic growth in a more inclusive manner, with economic possibilities reaching rural women and vulnerable groups being safeguarded from shocks.
SWAPNO empowers such women through its model of poverty graduation and social transfer, this project has benefitted approximately 65000 women-led homes to far.
Speaking about this initiative, Rajat Diwaker, Country Head of Marico Bangladesh Limited said, “We have a unique and broad corporate philosophy which is “Make a Difference”. Stemming from this ethos, social responsibility is not peripheral for us, it’s an essential component of our core philosophy. We see CSR from a 360-degree perspective.”
