A Jhalokati court has sentenced a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment in a drug case.

Mohammad Gaji Rahman, District and Sessions Judge in Jhalokati, pronounced the verdict on Monday in absence of the convict. The court, however, acquitted another accused from the charge. The convict is Nasir Sardar, son of Joban Ali.

According to the case statement, police of Nolchiti Thana on March 17 in 2016 seized 150 pieces of Yaba pills and 1.5 kg of marijuana from a house of Khasmahal area. At the time, police arrested Nasir Sardar and his son Hasan Sardar.

Atikul Islam, a sub inspector of the police station, recorded a case over the incident under The Narcotics Control Act.
