Lowest virus cases in 7 months

The current positivity rate of coronavirus stands at 5.62 percent which is the lowest in around seven months. The overall positivity rate stands at 16.35 percent. A total of 24,623 samples were tested across the country till 8am Sunday.

The country recorded 1,383 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,542,683, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday.

Bangladesh registered 43 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Sunday, taking the total number of deaths to 27,225.

The death rate now stands at 1.76 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the 43 deceased, 22 were men, and 21 were women. 19 of the deceased were from Dhaka, eight from Chattogram, six from Khulna, four Rajshahi, three from Rangpur, two from Sylhet and one was from Mymensingh.

During this period 2,887 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 1,501,541 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 97.33 percent.

As of Sunday 4,702,128 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 229,033,780 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
