Lowest Covid deaths recorded in 53 days

Bangladesh registered 117 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Monday, taking the total number of deaths to 25,399.   

The country recorded 5,717 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 14,67,715, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.

The death rate now stands at 1.73 percent in the country, added the release. 

The current positivity rate stands at 15.54 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.9 percent. 

Among the 117 deceased, 53 were men, and 64 were women. Of the victims, 114 died in different hospitals across the country and three died at home.

40 of the deceased were from Dhaka division, 29 from Chattogram, 13 from Sylhet, 11 from Khulna, 10 from Rajshahi, nine from Rangpur, four from Mymensingh, and one was from Sylhet division.  

A total of 36,789 samples were tested across the country till 8am Monday. 

During this period 8,982 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 13,72,856 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 93.54 percent.  

As of Monday, 4,447,896 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 212,759,555 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
