Lineman electrocuted in Jashore

A lineman of Westzone Power Distribution Company was electrocuted at Khuldanga area in Jashore town on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Jalal Fakir, 47, son of Zaniel Fakir of Jarierbar village under Purbadhala upazila in Netrokona district.

Humayun Kabir, general secretary of the Westzone Power Distribution Company Workers' Employee League said, on Tuesday noon engineer Rabul Karim, linemen Jalal Fakir and other workers went to the Aisha-Abed Foundation to connect a new electric line at Khuldanga area in the town. When Jalal got up on the pole and started working on the power connection, he come in contact with a live electric wire and his body was burned seriously.

The staff of Westzone Power Distribution Company took him to Jashore 250 bed General Hospital where on duty doctor declared him death.

Shahidul Alam Superintendent Engineer of Westzone Power Distribution Company said two investigative committees were formed at the local and Khulna divisional levels to investigate the incident.
