Bangladesh Meteorology Department (BMD) has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind at many places in the country. The BMD made the forecast on Monday (September 25).
According to the Met office’s regular bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Dhaka and Khulna divisions and at one or two places over Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at some places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
The country’s maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded 35.0 degrees Celsius at Sitakunda and the minimum temperature on Monday was 23.0 degrees Celsius jointly at Tetulia and Rajarhat.
Country’s highest rainfall for 24 hours till 6:00am today was recorded 259 millimeters (mm) at Sayedpur.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across northern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over North Bay. A low pressure area is likely to form over the north Andaman Sea and adjoining area.
