Police have arrested Hanif Sardar, 55, a fugitive convict sentenced to life imprisonment in a case filed under the Women & Children Repression Prevention Act in Barishal. He was convicted in 1998.
He was arrested on Wednesday. He had been absconding for 23 years. The arrested Hanif Sardar is a resident of Harinathpur area under Hijla upazila of Barishal.
The media cell of the district police confirmed the matter and said that the accused Hanif Sardar was arrested by the police from his brother's house in Harinathpur village.
