Legendary composer Alauddin Ali passes away

Alauddin Ali, the country's leading and legendary lyricist and composer, is no more (Innalillahi ... Rajiun).

He breathed his last at 5:50 pm on Sunday (August 9) while undergoing treatment at Ayesha Memorial Hospital in Mohakhali.

The managing director of the hospital Dr. Ashish Kumar Chakraborty confirmed this information.

Alauddin Ali had been suffering from various ailments for a long time. When he was taken to Bangkok on July 3, 2015, tests revealed that he had a tumor in his lung. He was then undergoing treatment for cancer along with other physical problems. Earlier, he was admitted to Ayesha Memorial Hospital on several occasions for various illnesses.

Alauddin Ali was somewhat healthy after receiving treatment at home and abroad. He had also returned to making music. However, on Saturday (August 8) at 5:15 am, his physical condition suddenly deteriorated. He was later admitted to Ayesha Memorial Hospital in Mohakhali. The doctor on duty there saw his breathing problems and advised him to be put on life support.

Yesterday, August 9, at 2 pm, it was found out that the legendary musician did not take any risk. On the contrary, there have been several new complications, including urine retention.

His Namaz-e-Janaza will be held after Zuhr prayers at Moore E Bagh Mosque in Khilgaon after which the second Janaza will be held at FDC at 2.30 pm today. He will later be buried at Mirpur Shahid Buddhijibi Koborsthan.

The eight-time National Film Award winning lyricist and composer had returned to the country after overcoming all the diseases and complications after treatment and started creating music prior to his passing away.

His death has cast a shadow of mourning over Bangladeshis, including the music and film arenas.
