Legal action for flouting hygiene rules in cattle markets: DNCC Mayor

Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam said that strict legal action would be taken if the hygiene rules and regulations were not followed properly at the cattle markets of sacrificial animals.      

He said this while addressing a discussion meeting with the monitoring team formed at Nagar Bhaban in Gulshan on Saturday afternoon on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

The DNCC mayor said a 15-member monitoring team has already been formed by convening Md Mofizur Rahman, councilor of ward no. 19.The team also consists of 13 councilors and two veterinary officers. Md. Atiqul Islam said that a mobile court is active in every cattle market under DNCC under the leadership of the Executive Magistrate in charge to ensure compliance with the health rules and regulations.      

He said Shakti Foundation has provided 200 trained volunteers, 200 vests and a sufficient number of masks at each market. Additionally, hand sanitizers and other health care items were also provided in all the markets.      

The DNCC mayor said that in order to maintain proper social distance in the animal markets of life, both buyers and sellers should use masks and hand sanitizers.    Md. Atiqul Islam said that "DNCC Digital Hat-2021" has been developed to prevent the spread of the virus.        He further said that in order to protect the city and the country along with our families, all of us have to abide by the health protocols and government guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19.      

Md. Selim Reza, Chief Executive Officer of DNCC and Imran Ahmed, Deputy Executive Director of Shakti Foundation were present among others at the discussion.
