The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has said passenger launches will be operated in all districts of the south-western part of the country and on the Shimulia-Banglabazar, Paturia-Daulatdia route till Sunday's 12 noon to facilitate the return of factory workers.
A high official of Shipping Ministry told the Bangladesh Post, "From Saturday night 8:00pm to Sunday 12:00 noon passenger launches will be operated to facilitate the workers return to their respective workstation."
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), an association of readymade garment owners, has requested the workers to stay in the village during the strict restrictions.
In a statement to the media on Saturday (July 31st), the organisation's president said, factory owners will not take any action against those workers unable to return from their village home due to shutdown.
