Kings, Jamal share points in a six-goal thriller

After a barren 70 minutes time, in a six-goal thriller in the last 20 minutes, Bashundhara Kings and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club shared points evenly in their respective last match of the first phase of TVS Bangladesh Premier League football after a 3-3 draw on Thursday.

Held at the Banshundhara Sports Complex, Kings remained unbeaten at their home venue since winning the inaugural match against Bangladesh Police FC by 3-0.

Bashundhara, though won their last seven matches at home ground, were forced to share points with Sheikh Jamal after coming from behind twice on the day.

Sheikh Jamal after winning the match remained as only unbeaten team in the first leg when Bashindhara and Abhani Limited suffered one match each.

However, Bashundhara despite making draw, finished the first leg on top of the points table with 26 followed by Jamal obtained 23 when Abahani Limited who also won their last match against Uttar Baridhara completed first phase on third position with 22 points.

The match turned alive after 15 minutes with Jamal produced first opportunity to take lead on 19th minute but having pass from Chinedu Mathew off a quick attack down the left but captain Solomon King powered his right footer from the box straight to goalkeeper Zico.

Bashundhara, the league leaders had only chance in the opening 45 minutes on 38th minute after a cooling break but Sumon Reza could not keep his cool as his strong right footer from inside the box missed the near post.

Juan Martinez Saez men went ahead thanks to forward Uzbek forward scored goal in a pulsating second half beating goalkeeper Anisur Rahman Zico.   

Otabek broke  the deadlock on 71st minute when the Uzbek after receiving a through pass from Soloman King ran faster to edge past the Kings defenders, and finally beat advancing goalkeeper Zico and sent the ball into net over his head (1-0).  

Bashundhara responded strongly taking no time but six minute later equalized  through Stojan Vrenje stunned all with a 20 meters long free kick (1-1).

Soleman Sillah restored the lead for Jamal on 83rd minute when Zico failed to grip a Fausal Ahmed long range shot, the Gambian did no mistake to pushed the ball into net (2-1).

Jamal increased the margin two minutes later and this time it was a beautiful solo effort from Otabek when he dribbled past three of his markers and crossed it to nearer Solomon Kings who shot past Zico (3-1).

Bashundhara despite trailing by 1-3, did not lost their moral they as scored two goals inside two minutes to level the margin.

Elita Kingsley struck both goals to make prestigious draw for Kings at their home ground, Kings, who replaced Jony, struck first one on 89th minute with a header on a Khaled Shafi cross and netted the second with same fashion and this time Ibrahim provided the cross (3-3).
