Judiciary enjoys full independence

Says Home Minister Kamal

'The Judiciary is Independent. The Judiciary is continuing its activities at its own pace. Sculpures are the culture and assets of Bangladesh. It is the duty of all to preserve those', Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at a video conference from Khagrachhari Regional Passport Office on Thursday.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal further said any aggrieved citizen reserves the right of filing a case for violation of citizen's rights. He added, the Judiciary of the country is free and continuing its activities at its own pace. 

The Minister further said the government has no instigation in filing a case after the death of former Ameer of Hefazat-e-Islam Ahmed Shafi by his relatives.  That is why the government has no role in the withdrawal of the case or continuation of the case.  

Home Minister Kamal was answering queries from the journalists after the inauguration of E-Passport Service programme at three hill districts, Cox's Bazar, Narayanganj and Chandpur through video conferencing at the Regional Passport Office on Thursday morning. 

The programme was attended, among others, by Chairman of Chittagong Hill Tracts Refugee Rehabilitation related Taskforce and Member of Parliament of Khagrachhari Kujendra Lal Tripura, MP of the Reserved seat Basanti Chakma, Home Secretary and Officials from the Department of Passport. 

With the inauguration of six-more districts, the E-Passport Service programme now starts operating in all 64-district of the country.  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the E-Passport Service as the 119th country of the world on the occasion of the Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in January-22.

In the afternoon, Home Minister exchanged views with the officials of Fire Services, District Narcotics Control Department and district Jail authorities and attended a special meeting with the Law and Order Committee of the district. 

Earlier, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was received with floral wreaths at his arrival at Narikel Bagan road of Khagrachhari by local AL leaders and activists.
