JUCSU polls demanded

Students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Friday afternoon blockaded the administration building demanding JU central students' union (JUCSU) election. 

The 38th senate meeting of the university was delayed by an hour as students of the university took position in front of administration building at 3.30 pm demanding JUCSU election and continued the sit-in program till 4.30 pm as the senate assembly was scheduled at 4.00 pm.

The agitated students demanded the JUCSU election on 31 July. 

'Students are being deprived from their rights for 26 years. We cannot let the system go with this manner. JUCSU is the constitutional rights of the students', said Jahangirnagar University Cultural Alliance president Ashikur Rahman. 

Meanwhile, JU VC Prof Dr Farzana Islam met with the students around 4.00 pm on their demand and after a long discussion, VC assured them for forming an election body by 31 July.

Later, students closed their sit-in program and the senate assembly was started at 5.20 pm where JU VC Prof Dr Farzana Islam was in chair.
