JU human chain protests Saima’s rape

A human chain was formed on Monday protesting the murder of a 7-year old student named Samia Afrin Saima at Jahangirnagar University (JU).

JahangirnagarUniversity Teachers'Association arrangrd the programme at around 12:00 pm in front of the university’central ShaheedMinar. Over 150 teachers and students were present at the human chain that conducted by Assistant Professor of English department Sumona Gupta.  In the speech, Dean of Social Science FacultyProfessor Rasheda Akhter said, ‘Rapist must be punished within a short period of time.

 Due to the delay in judgment process many criminals remain unpunished in our country.”

Professor A. A. Mamun of Physics department said, "Those who do such activities do not have the right to live. We demanded their execution.”

General Secretary of Jahangirnagar University Teachers' Association Professor SohelRana said, "Killing of Saima is not an isolated incident. Due to the culture of injustice, this types of incident is happening in our country repeatedly. 

‘We want our children to stay safe and secure.” 

In the concluding speech. President of Jahangirnagar University Teachers' Association Professor Ajit Kumar Majumdar said, “We demand execution of those who were involved in such of cruel activities. Today we form human chain demanding their punishment. If we donot have a trial we will move again.”
