The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Information Ministry on Monday recommended taking an initiative to resolve the long-standing promotion standoff of information cadres by giving supernumerary promotions to the BCS cadre officers stationed at Bangladesh Betar, reports BSS.
The committee made the recommendation at its fourth meeting held at Sangsad Bhaban with its chairperson Hasanul Haq Inu in the chair. Committee members Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Kazi Keramat Ali, Akbar Hossain Pathan, Kh Momota Hena Lovely and Salma Chowdhury were present at the meeting.
State Minister for Information Md Murad Hasan was also present at the meeting, said a press release of the Parliament Secretariat. During the meeting, the committee discussed giving connection of Bangabandhu Satellite to public and private TV channels and giving priority to local TV channels in sequence of broadcasting.
Information secretary Abdul Malek, director generals of Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar and senior officials of the ministry and Parliament Secretariat were present.
