The forth meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry of the 11th Parliament was held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban in the capital on Wednesday, reports BSS.Chairman of the committee Md Shahiduzzaman Sarker chaired the meeting. The committee members Md Abu Zahir, S M Jaglul Hayder, Md Nurul Islam Talukder, Md Aslam Hossain Saudagar, Khaleda Khanom and Begum Nargis Rahman attended the meeting, said a press release.
The committee, at the meeting, made a decision to inspect in person the concerned places of the ongoing mega projects across the country. It also recommended for setting up monitoring cells to take necessary actions against concerned contractors involved in irregularities to mitigate the sufferings of the customers.
The committee laid stress on taking necessary steps to cut down system losses of Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) and Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (REB). Senior officials of the ministry and concerned officials of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were also present.
