JS body discusses Bangabandhu’s birth centenary celebration

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Cultural Affairs Ministry Sunday discussed about the celebration of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 2020, reports BSS. The committee at its third meeting discussed about the monitoring and progress of the initiatives taken by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, said an official press release.

The committee also dwelt on Bangladesh Shiplakala Academy’s plans for engaging the school students at district and upazila level in the celebration, by taking suggestions and ideas for celebrating ‘Mujib Year’. The meeting stated that the progress to collect suggestions and ideas from district and upazila level students is on progress and so far a total number of 25,00 forms have been collected.

The committee placed a suggestion to submit a report on establishing ad hoc or full committees of Shilpakala Academy in 64 districts in its next meeting. Also, the committee recommended for recruiting cultural officers against the vacant posts. Committee member Kazi Keramat Ali presided over by the meeting on behalf of the committee chairman Simin Hossain Rimi.

Committee members State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ministry KM Khalid, Asim Kumar Ukil, Selina Islam and Masuda M Rashid Chowdhury attended the meeting. Acting secretary of the concerned ministry, managing directors of Shilpakala Academy, Directorate of Archives and Libraries and Bangladesh National Museum, senior officials of the ministry and Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were also present at the meeting.
