Journo stabbed dead in Dhamrai

A local correspondent of ‘Bijoy TV’ was stabbed to death in Dhaka’s Dhamrai on Thursday noon. Locals later held two alleged killers and handed them over to police. 

The deceased was identified as Julhas Uddin, son of late Rois Uddin, hailed from Hatkora village of Dhamrai upazila. He used to work as a correspondent of Bijoy TV. 

The detainees are identified as Md. Shahin and Md. Moyazzem.  

Dipak Chandra Saha, Officer-in Charge of Dhamrai police station confirmed the matter to the Bangladesh Post. 

The body has been sent to the Hospital morgue for autopsy and a case has been filed with Dhamrai police station in this connection.

OC Saha said, “The incident took place next to a Hindu temple at Barbaria village of Gangutia union Parishad in Dhamrai on Thursday noon. The accused allegedly stabbed the journalist, leaving him injured critically. He died on the way to Manikganj Sadar Hospital.”

“Shahin, the prime accused was the former husband of the deceased’s second wife and Shahin might have stabbed the journalist to death centering conflict with his wife. However, details will be known after a proper investigation,” the OC added.
