It is learnt, as a sequel of previous enmity and over the issues of establishing supremacy between former Municipal Commissioner Pijush and the incumbent Commissioner Belal Hossain, an old man was killed at Parkola village under Shahjadpur Municipal area on Sunday morning.

The victim was identified as Asgar Ali(65) son of late Felal Sheikh of village Parkola. Asgar was a supporter of Commissioner Belal Hossain.

According to sources, former Municipality Commissioner Mostafizur Rahman Pijush is one of the main accused of Daily Samakal Journalist Shimul murder case. Pijush is a resident of village Parcola and he has developed a long-lasting enmity with incumbent Commissioner Belal Hossain. They also locked in a quarrel over the lease of Khas pond and fish cultivation in the village for a long time.

Being involved as a No-5 accused in journalist Shimul murder case, Pijus had been staying out of the area ( in hiding) for a long time. But, he was granted bail in the case six months ago and again locked in clash and misdeed afresh.

A rivalry between the two groups of commissioners intensified following the incident of putting poison in the pond and killing fish. As a sequel of the incident, supporters of Pijush manhandled and fatally beat Ali Asgar, a supporter of Belal, killing him on the spot on Sunday.
