Journalist Madhusudan Mondal’s mother cremated in Jashore

Sumoti Bala Mondal, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) City Editor Madhusudan Mondal’s mother, was cremated at Dhakuria crematorium adjacent to her village home in Jashore on Friday afternoon, reports BSS. 

Sumoti Bala, a social worker and philanthropist, breathed her last in the early hours of today at her home at Katakhali village in Manirampur upazila of Jashore district, family sources said. She was 82. Sumoti Bala had been suffering from old-age complications for last few months.

She is survived by two sons, two daughters, a host of relatives and admirers. BSS City Editor Madhusudan Mondal is her second son.

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Managing Director and Chief Editor Abul Kalam Azad expressed profound shock at the death of Sumoti.

He also prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Besides, Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) President Elias Hossain and General Secretary Kabir Ahmed Khan, Crime Reporters’ Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) President Abul Khayer and General Secretary Dipu Sarwar, Khulna Divisional Journalists Forum (KDJF), Dhaka President Rahul Raha and General Secretary Mursalin Nomani mourned the death of Sumoti Bala.
