A Jhenidah court has awarded life term imprisonment to a youth for violating a minor girl at Moheshpur upazila in the district.
Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Jhenidah Chand Mohammad Alim Al Razi delivered the verdict on Thursday. The court also fined the convict Tk 20 thousand, in default, one year more imprisonment.
The convict is Tarikul Islam, 28, son of Abdul Mannan of Lakkhipur village under Banshbaria union of Moheshpur upazila.
According to the case statement, on July 30 noon in 2010, Tarikul Islam violated a nursery level minor girl in a bamboo bush near their house. Father of the child later filed a case against Tarikul with Moheshpur police station. The investigation officer of the police station submitted charge sheet against the lone accused Tarikul.
