Jhenidah schoolboy chopped to death

A class ten schoolboy was chopped to death and another sustained severe stab injuries when a gang of youths attacked them at Kalikapur turning in Jhenidah town.

The deceased was identified as Saidur Rahman Sifat, 16, son of Manwar Hossain Mia of Kalikapur Pashchimpara of the town. He was studying  in Wazir Ali school and college in Jhenidah.

Jhenidah Sadar police station officer in charge Main Uddin said, Sifat’s friend Mahi was engaged in a clash with two other youths named Sumon and Leon at the area in the night of Friday. The matter was settled among them immediately.

Both Sifat and Mahir were playing in the morning of Saturday. Suddenly Sumon, Leon and two others arrived there and started beating and chopping up Mahir. As Sifat tried to save his friend Mahir, the youths also chopped him. The injured duo was rushed to Jhenidah Sadar hospital in a critical state. The attending physicians referred Sifat to Faridpur medical college hospital when his condition was deteriorating faster. But he (Sifat) succumbs to his injuries on the way in the afternoon.

The police was preparing to file a case in this connection. They are conducting drives to nab the killers, the police station officer in charge said.
