Jhenidah DB police detains two in Jamirul killing case

The detective branch (DB) police in Jhenidah detained two miscreants for their alleged involvement in killing a businessman Jamirul Islam. They were arrested from Chuadnga and Harinakundu of Jhenidah on Sunday night. 

The law enforcers also seized arms, ammunitions and the motorbike from their possession which was snatched after killing the businessman. The information was disclosed before the media activists in the conference room of the superintendent of police on Monday noon.

Police super Mohammad Hasanuzzaman said businessman Jamirul Islam of Kubirkhali village of Jhenidah Sadar upazila was gunned down by some miscreants in the night of April 19 this year. Jamirul was returning home on the motorbike after closing his business. The killers snatched away his motorbike.

Later Jamirul’s father lodged a murder case against a number of miscreants. The detective branch police was investigating the case as per an order of the court.

Police super said acting on tip off, a contingent of DB police raided a house at Nabinagar village of Chuadanga and arrested one of the killers Nasir Uddin from his house. Police recovered the motorbike of the deceased Jamirul Islam which was snatched after killing him. 

Another contingent of the DB police raided a house at Kadikhali village of Harinakundu upazila in Jhenidah in the same night and detained another suspected killer Azizul from his house. The law enforcers had seized a foreign gun with five rounds of ammunitions. 

The detained duo in their separate statement to DB police had admitted their involvement in killing the businessman Jamirul. The police was preparing to send the arrested to court. Earlier the police detained another five persons for their suspected involvement in killing businessman Jamirul Islam, the police super said.
