Jheniadah Bar Association get new body

Ruling Awami League (AL) backed candidate Khan Akteruzzaman was elected president, while, BNP-supported candidate Jakaria Milon was elected general secretary in Jhenidah Bar Association polls.

Election commissioner of the polls Advocate Azizur Rahman had confirmed the matter in the midnight of Thursday. 

Election commissioner informed ruling AL backed candidates bagged 13 positions including the president, while BNP backed candidates bagged six positions including the general secretary.

Abdul Khalek-1 was elected vice president, Abaas Uddin assistant general secretary, Abdul Khalek Sagar accounts auditor, Abdul Alim-3 literacy and library secretary, Gautam Kumar Biswas sports and recreation secretary, Jahidul Islam religious and entertainment secretary and Shahinu Islam was elected information and technology secretary.

Mir Sakhawat Hossain, Habibullah Bahar, Manjurul Islam, Subhas Biswas Milan, Asaduzzaman Babu, AM Sohanur Joarder Sathi, Bina Khatun, Mushfiqur Walid Imroz and Hafizur Rahman Mithun were elected as executive members of the committee.

The commissioner said the casting of vote was ended at 1am on Friday where 271 voters out of 273 had casted their franchise. The election was completed in a peaceful environment, Advocate Azizur Rahman said.
