Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Jhenaidah Mozibor Rahman had handed over the deeds and other documents of the houses among the landless and homeless 187 families at Jhenaidah district Shilpakala Academy on Sunday.
The houses were handed over after inauguration of the nation wide house distribution programme under the second phase of the project by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through a video conference.
Presided over by upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Jhenaidah Sadar SM Shahin, Deputy Commissioner attended as chief guest. Superintendent of police (SP) Munstasirul Islam, additional deputy commissioner Selim Reza, local government deputy director Yarul Islam and Jhenidah Sadar upazila parishad chairman Abdur Rashid advocate were present as special guests.
District administration sources said as per the pledges of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a total of 705 families had received houses in the district. 407 houses were distributed under the first phase of the housing programme, while 187 were handed over on Sunday. Remaining 111 houses will be handed over among the beneficiaries within a short time, the sources said.
