A case was filed against SM Kamal Hossain, principal of Terana Shahmahmudia Alim Madrasha at sadar upazila in Jhalokati, on charge of raping a female student of class eight of the madrasha. Police rescued the student from house of Sheikh Kamal’s brother and sent her to Jhalokati Sadar Hospital to check up her health condition. The principal has been hidden since the incident.
Police and locals said the girl was allegedly raped on August 15 at Kamal’s house. He fled when the incident was spread out. After that the girl was confined at Kamal’s brother’s house. Locals further said the girl had been worked at Kamal’s house as housemaid. Kamal has been sexually harassed her for long. The incident was spread out after seeing his wife.
Shonito Kumar Gayen, officer-in-charge of Jhalokati Thana, said that the girl had been studied and worked as a housemaid at the principal’s house. In that time, he developed physical relation with the student. The student’s father filed a case against the principal over the women and child repression prevention act.
