JBCCI for more Japanese investment in Bangladesh

The Japan Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) has urged Japanese investors to invest more in Bangladesh as the government is providing all sorts of facilities to the investors in the country.

The chamber made the call at a webinar organised by HAISON International Limited, an investment management and advisory services firm of Bangladesh, in cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Tokyo and JBCCI on Tuesday, said a press release on Wednesday.

The webinar has been followed by business matching from today to 30th November.

Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Japan-Bangladesh Cooperation Committee, Pacific Research Exchange Center facilitated the program. Over 380 Japanese companies including many prominent companies joined the webinar.

Head of UNIDO Tokyo Yuko Yasunaga, HAISON CEO M Jalalul Hai, Jetro Representative in Bangladesh Yuji Ando, JBCCI Executive Director Dr AKM Mozzem Hussain and Secretary General Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan (Jun) spoke on the occasion.

The webinar focused on the current business outlook of Bangladesh as well as Bangladesh business environment for Japanese companies. During the occasion, 24 Bangladesh companies also interested in business partnership with Japanese companies also spoke about their business. It is expected that the Bangladesh companies will interact with about 100 Japanese companies during the business matching program.

Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan urged Japanese investors to invest in Bangladesh as the country’s economy is growing fast.

“We believe that we have the fastest growing economy in the world. Fifty percent of the population of the country under 25 years old and it is the 2nd largest RMG exporter country in the world. We have a good market for mobile with around 130 million users,” he.
