Former men's opener Javed Omar will not be able to take any part as Bangladesh Cricket Board representative in future ICC events, a board official confirmed to Cricbuzz on Monday.

Omar, who was appointed the manager of the women's international team for the last couple of series, went to Australia during the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in the same capacity. It is alleged that he passed on team information. Cricbuzz understands that the cricket's supreme governing body has requested BCB not to include the former player in any further ICC events after having followed his activities during the tournament.  "Yes we've been informed by the ICC to not include him in any future event," a top BCB official confirmed on conditions of anonymity. "To be honest, it is quite disappointing."

It is understood that Omar's movements were under constant scrutiny by the ICC officials and after gathering enough evidence against him, the board urged the BCB to exclude him.

Omar, who played 40 Test and 59 ODI's during his career, was a solid opening batsman who made his ODI debut for Bangladesh in 1995. Blessed with patience and a sound technique, Omar found the going tough in the ODI format as he struggled to score quickly.
