Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed today said the government of Japan will take skilled workers from Bangladesh under 15 categories by 2025, reports BSS.

“Japan will recruit skilled workers under 15 categories from Bangladesh by 2025,” he told newsmen. He was talking to the journalists during a press conference on ‘Awareness for Overseas Employment’ at Sylhet Circuit House on Thursday. The minister said those who are returning from Libya have gone there illegally.

As they have started returning home, the government will help them in this regard, he said, adding that besides, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) will provide $ 1,400 to each of them. Responding to a question of the journalists about women workers who have recently returned from Saudi Arabia, the minister said the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh is working with utmost sincerity aiming to help them.

He said the government is making sincere efforts to solve this problem. The minister said legal actions have already been taken against 166 recruiting agencies for cheating people and sending them abroad illegally.

With Deputy Commissioner M Kazi Emdadul Islam in the chair, the press conference was attended, among others, by Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Joint Secretary M Jahangir Alam and Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Mustafizur Rahman.
