IUB holds seminar on Volunteering Opportunities

The School of Environmental Science and Management (SESM) organized a seminar titled “Volunteering Opportunities in Bangladesh: Towards National Policy Formulation and Meeting Sustainable Development Goals” at IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka on Wednesday.

Md Aktar Uddin, country coordinator, UN Volunteers (UNV) Bangladesh was the guest speaker in the seminar. Professor Milan Pagon, vice chancellor (acting), IUB also present and spoke on the occasion.

In his speech, Aktar Uddin, mentioned that volunteering creates opportunities to have a desired future. He stated that youth participation is important to form the volunteering policy for Bangladesh and young generation will have to take the lead and show path to others for volunteerism. If any IUB student or any group wants to become the volunteer with UNV, they will get all-out support, Aktar added.

While addressing to the audience, Professor Pagon mentioned that volunteerism is everywhere, even to have a good career, the students will have to create a good network through volunteering.

At the outset of the seminar, Dr Md Abdul Khaleque, dean, SESM introduced the guest speaker to the audience.

After the event, guests handed over certificates to SESM students for playing roles as volunteer and making significant contributions towards creating awareness on environment protection.

Lastly, the floor was open for Q&A session where students participated enthusiastically.
