Islam never supports violence: Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, "Islam never supports  violence. Islam is the religion of peace. Those who commit atrocities, cruelty and oppression in the name of religion are not human beings, they are inhuman. It cannot be the intention of any religion to commit such atrocities and tyranny. Their intention was to take political advantage by creating anarchy”.

He made the statement after inspecting the houses damaged by the Hefazat’s mayhem at Madhupur of Sirajdikhan in Munshiganj on Friday.

The minister further said, "I have personally come and inspected the circumstances. I promise that I will identify all those involved in this conspiracy and bring them under the purview of law. The law will continue at its own pace, no one will be exempted. Whoever is involved, will be handed over to the law. I will bring everyone under the law after investigating the cases of atrocities that have taken place. I will not allow cruelty and barbarism.”

He added that our Prime Minister is moving forward at a great pace. She herself is a Muslim, who says her prayers five times a day. Bangladesh is her responsibility and she does not do anything outside the purview of Quran and Sunnah. 

Dhaka Range DIG Habibur Rahman BPM (Bar) PPM (Bar), Additional DIG Noor-E-Alam Mina BPM (Bar) PPM, Major General AKM Humayun Kabir (Retd), superintendent of Munshiganj police Abdul Momen PPM, Sirajdikhan upazila Awami League President and upazila Chairman Mohiuddin Ahmed, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Syed Faizul Islam and Union parishad chairmen of the upazila and leaders of Awami League affiliates including Sirajdikhan Upazila Awami League General Secretary Abu Bakar Siddique were present at this time. 

Hefazat workers vandalized and set fire to 10 houses of Rajnagar union in Sirajdikhan of Munshiganj including the house of Awami League president of the union SM Alamgir Kabir on March 28 following the strike called by Hefazat-e-Islam.
