Integrated efforts of all government, non-government and volunteer organisations concerned can be the best way of protecting human rights for ensuring dignified life of the people.

People of all levels should raise their voices for establishing their equal rights in the society besides forging social resistance against the violators of human rights.

Social watchdogs and development activists came up with the observation while addressing a validation workshop related to finalization of Rajshahi District Human Rights Situation Report.

Rajshahi Human Rights Alliance (RHRA) and Anagrasar Samaj Unnayan Sangstha (ASUS) jointly organized the meeting to mark the international human rights day 2022 supported by UNDP at Hotel Warisan in Rajshahi city today.

With RHRA Convener Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan in the chair, the meeting was addressed by Deputy Director of Department of Social Services Hasina Momtaz, Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat, women leader Kolpona Roy and development activists Foyzullah Chowdhury, Mustafizur Rahman Khan and Bimol Chandra Rajoar.

Development Researcher Zahirul Islam presented the report, while ASUS Executive Director Rajkumar Shaw moderated the discussion.

Members of the civil society, social watchdogs and pressure group members joined the meeting and took part in its open discussion putting forward a set of recommendations on how to protect human rights.

Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan said establishing transparency and accountability in every sphere of life can be the effective means of ensuring human rights to all.

He said the human rights situation should be improved collectively and the social watchdogs can play a vital role in this regard.

The meeting was told that ensuring social justice and sustainable development of living and livelihood conditions of ethnically minority communities is needed.

The ethnic communities should be given the rights of land, food, healthcare, education and cultural opportunities. So, all the government and non-government entities concerned should come forward and work together to this end.
