Initiatives taken for safe Eid journey

The government has taken several initiatives to make the homebound journey of the dwellers of Dhaka safe and secure during the upcoming Eid-Ul-Fitr.
All engineers serving under the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry have been instructed to complete the highway repair works seven days before the Eid, said officials.

Sources said the ministry recently sent a letter containing 32-point instruction to concerned officials to ensure a hassle-free Eid vacation. The government has taken a number of initiatives to make the Eid journey smooth. The letter signed by the roads and highway department assistant secretary Md Liaquat Ali was sent to engineers on May 9.

According to the instructions published on the Ministry's website, chief engineer, additional chief engineer, and executive engineers have been asked to take necessary action to complete the highway repair works seven days before the Eid. Besides, to keep national and regional highway free of traffic congestion, highway police and other concerned departments have also been asked to take necessary steps.

 Apart from this, a vigilance team formed by Bangladesh Road Transport Authority and transport owners and workers would be deployed at the main three bus terminals of the capital. To this end, ministry assistant secretary Md Liaquat Ali said the officials concerned have been asked to implement the 32-point instructions to make safe and secure Eid journey across the country.
