Infusing dynamism into VSC activities in Rajshahi underscored

Highlighting the significant role of Victim Support Center (VSC), high police officials at a meeting unequivocally called for infusing furthermore dynamism into its activities for welfare of the children and women victims.

Launched at the compound of Shahmukhdum Police Station in 2013, the VSC provided services to 213 women and children victims this year so far.

Officials of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) made this observation while addressing the 22nd steering committee meeting of VSC at RMP headquarters conference hall in the city on Tuesday.

Various issues including reasons behind the gradually rising violations against women and children together and how to overcome those were discussed elaborately in the meeting.

Chaired by RMP Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Additional Commissioners Faruque Hossain, Bijoy Basak and Shamsunnaher and Deputy Commissioner Saiduddin Shahin.

Representatives of various partner NGOs like BLAST, Bangladesh Mohila Parishad, BNWLA, Marie Stopes and ACD joined the meeting.

Abu Kalam Siddique told the meeting that Bangladesh Police has established the victim support centre in a bid to reach victims living in remote areas.

RMP is serving women and children victims by providing legal assistance, counseling support and rehabilitation facilities.

The pro-people service providing program of Bangladesh Police has been institutionalised and concentrated through the integrated services of the victim support centre.

The meeting discussed and devised ways and means on how to infuse dynamism into the VSC activities.
