Indian Commerce Secretary calls on PM’s adviser Salman F Rahman

Indian Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan paid a courtesy call on Salman Fazlur Rahman MP, Private Industry and Investment Adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the office of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) on Sunday, said a press release.

Vikram Kumar Doraiswami, High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, was also present on the occasion.   

During the meeting, they discussed strengthening and expanding trade relations between the two friendly countries. Issues including enhancing communication and trade among people of the both countries, removing trade barriers, recognition and specification of common and mutual standards and testing, and the potential for trade in India's northeastern markets.        

Salman Fazlur Rahman also mentioned the steps taken by the government to facilitate trade and remove trade barriers in the country. 

He also reminisced the efforts and sincerity of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in enhancing bilateral relations. He also emphasized working with a healthy competitive attitude of the businessmen of the two countries.

Indian Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan, spoke on the potential of trade relations between the two countries and hoped for the support of the Adviser for its further development. 

Vikram Kumar Doraiswami, High Commissioner of India briefed the Adviser on various projects undertaken to amplify connectivity and communication between the two countries. He also informed the Adviser on the preparations for holding trade meetings and conferences in both the countries with sector-based businessmen from India and Bangladesh.
