A delegation of 15 young couples of Indian Army arrived here yesterday on the invitation of the Chief of General Staff, Bangladesh Army, said a press release of High Commission of India, reports BSS.

The delegation came from Kolkata by a specially designated aircraft of Bangladesh Army, the release said. “This is a significant milestone in the history of bilateral relations as this is first of its kind visit in Bangladesh, wherein 15 midlevel officers of Indian Army, each accompanied by their spouse are visiting Bangladesh,” it said.

During the visit, the delegation members will meet senior officers and interact with midlevel officers of Bangladesh Army. They will also visit Bijoyketon Museum, National Parliament, Cox’s Bazar, Proyash, Liberation War Museum, National Mausoleum and Hatirjheel. The visit is the reciprocal one in nature wherein 25 young couples of Bangladesh Army had earlier visited Delhi, Agra and Kolkata from November 26 to December 2, 2018.

These visits were suggested by Bangladesh Army Chief during discussions held with the Indian Army Chief on his first visit abroad after taking over as Army Chief. The visit is aimed to enhance people to people contact in the backdrop of our enriched common cultural heritage and will go a long way in enhancing co-operation and inter-operability between the two Armies.
