‘Increased export of agricultural products will take Bangladesh’s status to new heights’

Efforts are being made to increase the export of agricultural products by entering the international market. By increasing the export of agricultural products Bangladesh’s status will reach new heights in the world, said Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque. 

“By participating in the 7th International Horticulture Exhibition in the Netherlands, it will be possible to showcase the country's amazing achievements in agriculture and export potential of agricultural products to the world,” he said.

Dr Abdur Rzzaque made the remarks at a press conference regarding Bangladesh’s participation in the expo, at the Secretariat on Thursday.   

The Minister informed that apart from the government, about 20 non-governmental organizations including ACI, Pran Group, Hashem Foods, Square Foods, Globepack Foods, Bangladesh Fruits, Vegetables and Allied Products Exporters' Association are participating in this expo. 

He said, “A delegation has been formed consisting of government and non-government representatives to successfully participate in the expo including preparation of pavilion, official inauguration, celebration of Bangladesh Day, closing ceremony and operation of pavilions. The members of the delegation will visit the expo in the Netherlands periodically during the Expo (6 months or 180 days) and will perform various duties including business networking, visitor reception, briefing and pavilion management.”

The Agriculture Minister further said that Bangladesh is showcasing its innovations and green solutions to the world at the Expo. 

“Arrangements have been made for the exhibition of vegetables, fruits and flowers and agricultural products of the country. In addition, the stall is showcasing 13 digital displays based on various achievements of agriculture in the country. Bangladesh Day and various other events will be held at the expo. Through this, there will be an opportunity to create market and branding of Bangladeshi products abroad,” he added. 

The Minister also said that Bangladesh's participation in the expo has created opportunities for Bangladesh to become a member of an important international organization like the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH).
