Imams can play vital role to control noise pollution

Speakers at a training programme have said that the imams of mosques can play a vital role in reducing noise pollution in the country to a tolerable level as they have an impact on the common people in the society. So, the speakers called upon the imams to work in this regard in the interest of public health.

The Department of Environment (DoE) arranged the training for imams on awareness about noise pollution on Saturday (June 12, 2021) under the project ‘Integrated and Participatory Project to Control Noise Pollution’.

Additional Secretary of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry Ahmed Shamim Al Razi attended the function as the chief guest with DoE’s Director General Md Ashraf Uddin in the chair. Additional Director General of DoE and Project Director Md Humayun Kabir delivered the welcome speech, while Chairman of ENT Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Prof Dr Sheikh Nurul Fattah Rumi presented a keynote paper in the progrmame.  Additional Secretary of Religious Affairs Ministry Md Abdul Hamid Jomaddar, DoE’s Assistant Director Khandaker Mahmud Pasha, Maulana Selim Hossain Azadi and Syed Moniruzzaman spoke, among others.
