A fake nude photo of a housewife was published by a youth at Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah on March 24, but the accused has not been arrested till now. Rabeya Akter, 24, daughter of Rabiul Islam of Char Dhalaharachandra village at the upazila, filed a case with Sailkupa police station on May 9 against Yunus Ali. She mentioned that her father Rabiul Islam is a driver of rickshaw-van. She was married to Insan Kabir, son of Yakub Mandal of the village on March 11. Insan left for Singapore soon after the marriage.
She was forced to leave the house following torture by her in-laws. Yunus Ali, son of Rabeya Akter’s brother-in-law Abdur Rashid, often tortured her physically. As Rabeya protested, Yunus superimposed a necked photo of a woman and fixed it with Rabeya’s face. Rabeya’s father Rabiul Islam said his daughter was disheartened and desired to commit suicide to get relieved from the evil situation. But the family members managed her to refrain from it.
Kazi Ayubur Rahman, acting officer-in-charge (OC) of Sailkupa police station, said that they are trying to arrest the accused. Ariful Islam, Assistant superintendent of police in Sailkupa circle echoed the same as the OC.
