Housemaid tortured, no action taken yet

Savar police did not take any legal action regarding torturing a woman housemaid, aged around 27, despite lodging a written complaint with Savar model police station, even after 5 days of the incident, in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.

“I have lodged a written complaint on last Monday, 21 June, but police did not take any legal action against the accused, rather the SI, who investigating the complaint said that he have nothing to do”, Muttakin, younger brother of the victim, and the complainant told The Bangladesh Post on Saturday.

When contacted, Enamul, Sub-inspector of Savar model police station and the investigating officer said, “It’s actually a family feud, and it’s a matter under section 323 of the Penal code. Moreover, both, the victim and the accused want to solve the issues by themselves. Therefore, no action was made”.

When asked, the complainant made the allegations that they want to file a case in this regard, but police do not respond to them, the officials asked this correspondent to meet with him directly.

Kazi Mainul Islam, OC, Savar model police station said, “Actually I do not know about the matter, however, I am looking into the issue, and legal action will be taken after investigating the matter”.
