The High Court (HC) on Wednesday acquitted a centenarian lady from an arms case filed with the capital’s Tejgaon Police Station in 2002, reports BSS.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Md Riaz Uddin Khan passed the order, quashing the trial proceedings against Rabeya Khatun, 104.

“The trial proceeding has going on for long with the lower court concerned. After reading about Rabeya’s ordeal in a newspaper, I filed a plea with the High Court and on April 29 the court issued a rule in this regard, staying the proceedings of the case,” writ petitioner Advocate Ashraful Alam said. The lawyer said after holding further hearing on the matter, the High Court today ‘quashed’ the trial proceedings for Rabeya, acquitting her from the case.
