Harvard University delegation meets BAEA leaders

Bangladesh Agricultural Economists’ Association (BAEA) leaders on Monday had a view-exchange with visiting delegates of Harvard University of the USA at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on the capital, reports BSS.

Senior Research Fellow of Harvard University Democratic Governance and Innovation Unit Malcolm McPherson, Professor Anthony of International Affairs and Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, Harvard Kennedy School Senior Fellow Iqbal Quadir attended the meeting.

Sajjadul Hassan, BAEA President and PMO Secretary, Planning Commission General Economics Division Member (Senior Secretary) Dr. Shamsul Alam and BAEA Secretary General Prof M Qamruzzaman were present on the occasion.

The Harvard University delegation lauded the steps taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for global climate change adaptation. They stressed on innovating newer technologies to cope with global warming. The delegates also underscored the need for setting up agro-processing industries in different economic zones.

The delegation hoped to work with the BAEA. Dr. Shamsul Alam presented framework of Delta Plan 2100 and different development programme of Bangladesh. A copy of Farm Economy Journal was also handed over to the guests on the occasion.
