Gunshots in Ashulia over land dispute

Gunshots were fired between two groups in brought daylight over a land dispute at Moddho Gazirchat area of Ashulia in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital on Tuesday morning. However, no causality was reported.

Subrata Roy, Sub-Inspector of Ashulia police station said they visited the places and investigating the issues, claiming that he did not found any clue of gunshots.

Abdullahel Kafee, Additional SP (Crime) of Dhaka Zila North told The Bangladesh Post, “I don’t get any information about such any incident yet, however, something happened there and police investigating the matter”.

Locals said, a gunshots incident took place there over a land dispute between M.A Motin and Abdur Rahim groups, and at least 5 rounds of bullets fired blank during the clashes, locals claimed.

However, when contacted, Motin claimed that a robber's gang carried out an attack at his land, fired bullets and exploding cocktails, as well as looted a Water pump motor, Mobile phones, ceiling fans, CCTV cameras, and belongings of laborers. He further said that the attackers injured some of laborers by beat them up during the time, adding that the attackers demanded taka 25 lakhs extortion to him earlier.

When asked, if the attackers demanded extortion to him earlier then why he consider this incidents as robbery, M.A Motin replied, “It’s a robbery as the attackers looted belongings”.

On the other hand, one man namely Shamim, claiming himself as a driver of Abdur Rahim claimed, M.A Motin and his associates were attacks entering their land during construction work, fired bullets and exploding bomb. He further claimed, Abdur Rahim owned the land around 529 decimals, and M.A Motin trying to grab it for long.
