Advocate Shamsul Alam Dudu, MP from Joypurhat-1 constituency, distributed a grant of Tk 5,34,000 to 178 Puja Mandaps in Joypurhat on the occasion of Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of Hindu religion community.
On the occasion of grant distribution, a function was organised by Joypurhat Sadar upazila and Joypurhat Poura Puja Udjapon Parishad at district Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Sunday.
Advocate Shamsul Alam Dudu, who is also district Awami League President and member of parliamentary standing committee on Home Ministry, distributed grant money to 178 puja mandaps of Joypurhat and Panchbibi upazila as the chief guest.
President of Joypurhat Sadar Upazila unit of Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council Nepal Chandra Mondal presided over the event, while it was addressed, among others, by district Awami League vice president Lutfe Akbar Raja Chowdhury, Joint Secretary Shekhar Majumdar, Zahidul Alam Benu, Poura Awami League President Azam Ali, general secretary Mahmood Hossain Himu, Awami League leader and prominent social activist Nandlal Parsi and Rana Kumar Mondal.At the meeting 178 puja mandaps of Joypurhat and Panchbibi upazila Tk 2,500/- was paid to each and Tk 500 to the priests.
